Upcoming Beehive Theater
2022-2023 Season!
Bringing Arts To The Kids
Increasing accessibility to the theatre arts has been a foundational value shared by everyone at Beehive, and it has taken on a whole new meaning in the world today. While on-stage productions have always been the core of Matt and Robyn’s theatre work, as we enter 2022-2023 the Beehive Theatre is leaning even deeper into programming that can actively bring theatre arts directly TO youth, continuing to break down barriers presented by health and safety precautions related to covid or the economic and emotional strain our community is feeling. This is done through our work in offering free digital/virtual artistic programming/workshops, partnering with local recreational centers or middle schools that are unable to provide arts education and experiences to their community at this time due to distance learning or loss of staffing/funding, and finding additional creative ways to engage and inspire creativity in our ever evolving society.

Thank you for your support!
Our ability to continue these vital and unique opportunities for youth depends on the generosity of our current supporting organizations such as the McNealy Foundation, MRAC and ECMC - and donors like you. Through your donations, we at Beehive Theatre can continue to focus on reducing barriers to arts access and bringing theatre experience directly to youth.
Current Pandemic Programming
Rec Centers
Beehive Theatre offers in-person theatre arts programming at several St. Paul Recreation Centers for those who attend their after school programs. Example activities have included “Stories in Motion,” a 10 week experience guiding participants in identifying the importance of sharing their story/ lived experience with their community. This program included direction from artistic staff on journaling/ writing, constructing visual art to express their story, confidence in speaking in front of an audience, creating individual monologues and performance pieces to highlight their story, and putting on performances for their teachers/ friends/ families/ community.
Digital Workshops
Workshops give an inside look at the inner workings of the new frontier of digital theatre such as editing, recording, and live streaming platforms. Future workshops will include auditioning skills, singing support, makeup and costume exploration, character development, and technical theatre skills comprised of lights and sound. Stay tuned to our website and social media for announcements of upcoming workshops offered both digitally and in- person to youth 8-18 years old.
Virtual Shows
What started as a temporary solution to a difficult circumstance turned out to be a whole new way to increase access to theatre arts. In transitioning from the stage to the screen, Beehive Theatre will continue to offer fully-realized productions including virtual rehearsals, mentorship with artistic staff, and an opportunity to broadcast their production while learning about the technical aspects of digital production. Virtual shows include 10 weeks of programming that meets several days a week, culminating in two weekend digital performance runs.

What is on the horizon?
While we are greatly fulfilled by the amazing work we are doing with our current programming and know it has been a creative lifeline for many of the youth involved, Matt, Robyn and all those connected to the Beehive Theatre are also eager to get back on stage soon! We will continue to monitor the moving target that is in-person programming and will always honor our commitment to the health and safety of the youth involved, our staff, and the community as a whole.

We will be announcing both our Summer and Fall Productions soon. Please note, we place the health and safety of our students, staff, and community at the highest priority. With that, we appreciate the grace and understanding that dates are subject to change.
